WELCOME! :)
I'm using this free web hosting service to post pictures and info about my latest obsession, my 1979 Mercedes Benz 300SD! There may be a few other random things posted from time to time as well. I'm doing an "as the budget allows, rolling restoration" of the car, even though it's in excellent shape already. 243,000 miles and still ticking. Or should I say "clattering"...diesel owners know what I mean! :) |
UPDATES.....
Lots of photos of my car, me and my daughter, my 78 300D parts car (gone--stripped it, eBayed most of it, sold the skeleton!), and some pictures from the Atlanta Mercedes meet and greet I organized on 2-3-02. Also a few new pictures of the car in front of my friend's circa-1842 house outside Atlanta, GA--I helped remodel the house. INTERESTING FACTS
The car is a W116 chassis, 5 cylinder diesel with a turbocharger. The 300SD was only sold in North America. Even though Mercedes sold other 116-chassis cars all over the world, the diesel version was only popular in the US at the time. It also was the first production passenger car to have a turbocharger, and was the fastest diesel car on the market for several years, and is still among the fastest! Also equipped with fully independent suspension, 4 speed automatic transmission, transmission cooler, oil cooler, automatic climate controls, power sunroof, power windows, central locking system, 4-wheel disk brakes. A magnificent and fun to drive car, even 23+ years later!!!
